The second XD generation paired G01 XD3 SAV with G02 XD4 Sports Activity Coupé. Both used ALPINA-developed high-output diesel six-cylinder systems, but their body dimensions, luggage volume, aerodynamics and market availability are separate.
Left-hand-drive and right-hand-drive programmes could use different turbocharger and output specifications. Lifecycle updates followed G01/G02 body changes and emissions requirements; code, steering side, market and build date must accompany every power figure.
XD4 is not an equipment version of XD3 and the two names should route to their respective bodies. BMW X3/X4 M40d data are not interchangeable with ALPINA's engine type and transmission calibration.
