ChassisAtlas is an independent catalog. It is not affiliated with BMW AG and keeps reviewed facts separate from editorial drafts.
Editorial states
English Wikipedia has been read as an overview and source map; original copy and the principal modification matrix are cross-checked against the listed BMW material, while rare regional combinations and model-year boundaries still await factory-document review.
Explains in plain language what BMW has confirmed, what specialist publications report and what remains unknown. It stays noindex until series production begins.

New documentation or a discrepancy requires another editorial pass.
How a future model is tracked
- Start with a direct BMW press release, production notice or executive statement; model existence and internal codename are evaluated separately.
- Then read current Bimmerpost and BMWBLOG coverage, marking every derivative, date and number as reporting rather than official fact.
- Unknown dimensions, output, battery, price and markets remain unpublished; related-model and prototype data is never copied automatically.
- Future status is removed only after series production is confirmed; normal Vehicle schema, photography and service data follow then.
How a generation is researched
- Read the complete English Wikipedia article: development, bodies, engines, revisions, production and references.
- Extract important and disputed claims, follow the bibliography and find direct BMW Group Classic, Archive or PressClub material.
- Write original EN/RU description and chronology; do not copy source prose and state discrepancies explicitly.
- Build the exact body–engine–gearbox–drive–market–model-year matrix separately. Only then can the record become reviewed.

- Factory technical catalog or brochure for the exact market and model year.
- BMW Group Archive, BMW Group Classic and official press material.
- Parts catalog, workshop literature and VIN-specific documentation.
- Independent publications are discovery aids, not the sole authority for a technical fact.
Photography
Pages use local derivatives of Wikimedia Commons and Unsplash photographs with a direct source, author, license, rights-check date and modification disclosure. The interface does not crop the frame. Future models remain without a photograph until a production-car image has clear reuse rights.

Completed the 152-generation, 264-body tree after separating the BMW 600 from Isetta, adding the China-only F78 long-wheelbase 2 Series and restoring the missing F85 X5 M and F86 X6 M generation. All 131 released generations and 238 released body routes are now reviewed.
Added and visually checked exact reusable photographs for the ALPINA E30 Cabriolet and E46 Sedan, bringing coverage to 236 of 238 released body routes. ALPINA E30 Touring and E34 Touring remain deliberately blank after rejecting all-rights-reserved, replica and body-mismatched files.
Added bilingual legal, privacy and terms pages covering project independence, trademarks, copyright and photo licences, Cloudflare hosting, permitted use and a documented correction/takedown process. Optional public contact fields never fabricate personal details.
Added a source-linked principal modification matrix to every released generation and body route. The catalog now contains 656 engine, output, transmission, drive, market and production-period rows; the editorial audit rejects any released body without matrix coverage, any row without an HTTPS source, and generic search or archive landing pages used as fact evidence.
Completed the bilingual editorial layer for all 131 released generations and 238 released body routes. Every dossier now has at least three original overview paragraphs, a four-event chronology, an English Wikipedia research source, a direct BMW cross-check, exact body dimensions and populated model and powertrain inventories; the audit now rejects shallow, duplicated or placeholder content.
Added 21 bilingual future-model dossiers with 26 body routes. Every dossier separates direct BMW confirmation from Bimmerpost/BMWBLOG reporting and lower-confidence rumor, carries an expected window and verification date, remains noindex, and leaves unpublished specifications blank rather than estimating them.
Expanded the manually written bilingual research layer to 26 generation nodes, adding the 4, 6 and 8 Series plus G70. English Wikipedia remains the subject map, direct BMW Archive/PressClub material cross-checks key claims, and unresolved body, market and production boundaries are stated in every record.
Completed body-level range inventories for every route and added generation-specific identification fields with pinned, direct subject sources for manual verification.
Added the factory E38 L7 as a separate third body route with official production data, a source-linked V12 row and a rights-cleared museum photograph.
Reviewed the complete E23, E32, E65/E66, F01/F02 and G11/G12 body trees and added 41 source-linked modification rows. E38 remains draft until L7 receives its own rights-cleared body route; G70 remains draft while the July 2026 update is processed.
Reviewed the E12–G68 5 Series tree, added four missing long-wheelbase factory bodies, 56 source-linked modification rows and licensed body photography.
Added editorial states, search across engines/models/bodies, source-linked 3 Series modification matrices, release metadata, responsive AVIF and a normalized editorial schema.
